BABY ANNE

Orlando (Zone Records, Bad Baby Records, Moist Music) [Break Beat, Downtempo]

Florida bass queen Baby Anne has proved she can hold her own behind the decks in an industry dominated by men. Smoking beats on her first set of Technics 1200's earned her a place in the world of electronic music. Her signature recipe is a delicious fusion of electro and Miami bass seasoned with funky breaks. Every successive release is an explosive mix that is as infectious as her live energetic sets. DJ Baby Anne's style of breaks consistently shakes the dance floor with an unmatched crushing fury.

Since 1992, Baby Anne is undoubtedly the most popular female breakbeat DJ. Her musical influences include Dave Noller, Dynamix II, Kraftwerk, 808 State, DJ Icey and Information Society. Baby Anne has coined an impressive set of ten CD compilations, five of which became top-selling albums: 'Bass Queen in the Mix' (1999), 'Bass Queen in the Mix 2' (2000), 'Dark Side of the Boom' (2001), 'I'm About to Break' (2002), 'Mixed Live' (2003), Mixtress (2004), 'Assault & Battery' (2005), 'Baby Anne Rocks!' (2006),  'Past, Present, Future' (2007) and her latest release for Moist Music, “Ground N Pound.”

“Past, Present, Future” is the fruition of tracks from her early days (Kaotic Chemistry & Hashim) sliced and diced with current songs she fancies (D-Lerium & Faze) and brand new material from the queen of bass herself. The album drops two fresh and original singles, 'I Wanna Rock' & 'BQ 2' where she collaborated with DJ Icey and MC Flipside. This inventive audio journey maps out Baby's origins, her current musical endeavors and the queen's future eargasmic odysseys.

Besides touring all over North America and adding to her growing discography, the reigning queen is relentlessly perfecting her craft. Baby Anne has released 20 plus 12" singles to date including a number of singles for DJ Icey's indie imprint, Zone Records, such as "Trippin' on Da Bass," "Freaks Groove," "Bass Queen," "Abercrombie," "Probe" and "Pulse." She has also created tracks "Body Movin'," "Beat", and "Fury" for other labels.

DJ Baby Anne receives rave reviews worldwide from publications ranging from top-50 market dailies such as The Miami Herald and The World-Herald, to major weeklies such as New Times and Orlando Weekly to popular fanzines such as Lunar Magazine and Club Planet. Her prowess behind the tables is always electric and fresh. She helps carve out the path for breakbeat evolution and provides evidence that she is fearless in the face of experimentation.
